Disturbance after your liver transplant

Liver transplant information >>>

Sleep disturbance

It is very common for people who have had a liver transplant to experience a disturbance in their sleep patterns. This is partly due to the stress of the transplant and partly due to the disturbed patterns that are inevitable in hospital. Your sleep will gradually return to normal although you may find this takes a few weeks. It is best if sedation is avoided.

Anxiety and depression

A serious operation such as a liver transplant can put an enormous amount of stress on you and your family. It is common for liver transplant patients to experience anxiety and perhaps depression in the immediate post operative period and during the first few months following a transplant. There are services available to help you adjust to life at home and your return to work. Contact the transplant co-ordinator or ward staff for further information or if you wish to discuss your anxieties.
